Golden Apple Award Winner!!!

On Wednesday, March 30, 2010, Dr. Skube and Dr. Cavucci, superintendent and curriculum director of the Youngstown Diocese visited St. Rose School to award our 8th grade teacher, Mrs. Rebecca Lowry, pictured above left with Principal Mrs. Linda Borton, with this year's Golden Apple Teacher Award.
This is SRS's first ever recipient and we couldn't think of a finer person to receive this special honor. Mrs. Lowry just returned from DC with her 8th grade students and parents after visiting Congressman Tim Ryan and the capital's historic sites. She works tirelessly giving her students state-of-the-art social studies and reading programs.
She is active in many community organizations and just this week became the maternal grandmother to baby Amelia Nagy. We love you, Mrs. Lowry. SRS applauds you on this great honor.

Exceptional, too, is their dedication to each child that is evident in the time and effort they put forth each day. Teachers make themselves available for extra help before, during and after school hours, they serve as advisors of enrichment activities, and as monitors throughout the day. Our Upper Grade 5-8 Advisory Teams provide an opportunity for teachers to meet with students on an individual basis to assist them with setting academic as well as personal goals.
Parents and guardians are the primary educators of our children. The faculty and administration are entrusted to share in this important responsibility. The close working relationship that exists between parents and teachers dictates the respect and vision that is maintained throughout the school year in order to mutually achieve what is best for each child at St. Rose of Lima School.
